Since the moment I got my driver's licence, I've always wanted to have my own car. I can still remember how happy I was to have passed the test. Just a few months later, I purchased my first car ever. A black Fiat 500 and I'm still in love with it! Having your own car gives you so much more freedom and you feel more independent. This is the most important step towards finding your dream car. I'm really not a car expert, so before I pick a car I want to know everything about it first. Inform yourself about how much repairing the car will costs you, if there are enough garages in your neighbourhood, how many cars from this model are there and more. Cars.com can give you a lot of helpful information when buying a car. It's one of the largest digital automotive platforms, connecting consumers with local dealers. On their website you can find the latest car news, updates and trends and the website even has a videos and reviews feature. On their site you can read honest reviews about the performance of a car you want to buy. If a car isn't rated very well, it immediately narrows down your list and helps you find the perfect car. 

CHOOSE A CAR THAT'S RIGHT FOR YOU

After informing yourself, the next step is to ask yourself the question what type of car suits your needs. Everybody is in a different stage in their life. If you are still in college than a very big car is probably not very convenient. But if you are already working and have to drive far away, than a bigger car might be safer and a better option. For me, the Fiat 500 is perfect because it's small and it doesn't need a lot of maintenance. Although I wouldn't mind having this cute pink Fiat! 

NEW OR USED CARS

When I got my driver's license I immediately wanted to buy a car. But before that, you need to decide whether or not you want to buy second hand car or a completely new car. Sometimes buying a cheap used car, will only costs you more later on. If you have a tight budget, than a used car is perfect. There are plenty of used cars that have not many miles and look as new.

La Dolce Vita In Sardinia

Traveling has always been one of my biggest passions in life. If I had the time I would travel to a different city every day. Just exploring new cultures and meeting new people from all over the world makes you grow as a person. Besides that, traveling is just very fun to do! There are still so many cities I want to go to, New York, Cape Town, Paris, Barcelona, Milan.. This summer I went on a family holiday to the beautiful island called Sardinia. 

THE JOURNEY

Being half Italian, I always love to visit my family in Rome. I've been to quite a few places in Italy but I'd never been to Sardinia before. After doing some research online I came across a small town San Teodoro, just 20 minutes away from Olbia Airport. If you want to start your trip, Traveloka Malaysia could help you a lot. You can easily compare cheap flight tickets and hotels. Maybe you're a student, than Traveloka will help you to find the cheapest flights online.  Olbia is like the main city of Sardinia, it's a nice city but with a lot of tourists. It really is worth the drive to go further and beaches are even more beautiful. We booked a flight from Amsterdam to Olbia airport and took a taxi to our hotel. It was cool to see the crystal blue sea and the different beaches from the window in the plane. When you land in Olbia you immediately feel very calm and relaxed. We were the only flight that landed and the airport was really calm too. We stayed for 10 nights at the Terra di Mare Resort & Spa. I couldn't recommend any other hotel if you want to go to San Teodoro. The staff is super friendly and everything is well organized and clean. 

BEACH TIME

The first two days we didn't plan any trips outside San Teodoro yet. In San Teodoro there a few beaches that you need to go to if you are there. The most popular one is La Cinta. We went here the most time because the water is so beautiful and you can windsurf or do any watersport you like. I went windsurfing a lot there, almost every day. I recommend if you go to this beach to walk further, because at the end you almost have the whole sea for yourself. We also went to Spiaggia Isuledda. To reach this beach we rented a bike. It's a lot less crowded than La Cinta but very nice to go to if you want to relax or want to rent a boat. Cala Luna and Budoni have great beaches too if you are up to visit more. Also if you want to escape from the heat just take a plunge in the water there, it's a lot colder than the other beach but super refreshing! 

CITY OF SAN TEODORO

The city of San Teodoro is very nice. It has lots of cute shops and every evening from 8 o'clock the city becomes car free and they have a big market where they sell local products. We went for an evening walk and you can experience the nightlife there, pubs, winebars and ice cream bars. You don't have to worry about finding something to eat! I really liked going to the restaurants there, most of them you can enjoy your dinner while listening to live music. There are also lots of small shops that are family businesses. I walked into a jewelry shop that was run by an old lady. They sold a brand called Stroili, maybe you've heard of it. It's Italian and it's very and they have cute things. I bought a necklace and a matching ring. 

EXCURSIONS

After the first few days we decided it was time to see more of the island. I really wanted to do a day trip to Palau and to the La Maddalena Islands. We drove from San Teodoro to Palau and took a 40-minute ferry to La Maddalena. You really need to go here, it's so beautiful. It's the largest island of the archipelago and there is always something to do. Some buildings are very colorful, in pink and orange. We went sailing for the entire day and it's an experience you'll never forget. We also went to Porto Cervo, in the north of Sardinia. It's the place to be if you are up for some shopping at Prada, Louis Vuitton or Bulgari. And maybe during your shopping trip you'll stand behind your favorite movie star, who knows!? The beaches there are also very nice and it's just a place you need to see when you're in Sardinia. 

TIPS FOR NEXT TIME
- It's best to visit Sardinia in June or september. In July and August it's it's very crowded and the prices are very high. 
-Almost everybody that visits Sardinia rents a car. That's really a must have if you want to see more of the island and a road trip is always good of course!
-To save money, just collect food at the local supermarket instead of going out to eat every day.

This holiday was really fun! Because it was so hot I didn't go on as many excursions as planned. Next summer I'm definitely going back and I'll make new memories to never forget.

7 Dorm Room Essentials Every Student Needs

Hey everyone,

In less than a month the summer holiday is over and the study days begin. Summer is my favorite season of the year for so many reasons. The days are longer, the sun shines, going to the beach with friends and the list goes on. Although, I have to admit that I kind of like it when it's getting darker earlier in the evenings. Maybe many of you have graduated high school and are of to starting as a freshman in college this year. It's an exciting and new chapter and I'm excited to start mine in September. You'll learn so much more new things, get to meet so many new people, and you'll grow as a person. It's also a step towards becoming more independent. Maybe you have decided to move out and get your own dorm room. I'm still not sure if I'm going to move out, but it's sure fun to have more freedom. It's also a great excuse to start shopping for some cute decor for your new place. There are so many things you already need to think of when going to college. To make it easy, here are 7 dorm room essentials every student needs. Let's get right to it!

COMFY PILLOWS

Besides wanting your room to look nice, it's also important that it's comfortable. You're probably going to study there or inviting your other roommates over from next door. Pillows are just inevitable for a movie night in and make your room look cozier. 

FOOD BLENDER

I use the blender almost every day. You can make so many different smoothies with it and it's also very healthy. My favorite smoothie would have to be with yoghurt, blueberries and ice cream. Besides the ice cream it's healthy.. When you're in college this can be a quick and easy way to eat lots of fruits or vegetables. 

HEADPHONES

My favorite headphones are the Bose Silent Noise cancelling. They really cancel or the noise from outside and you feel like it's only you and the movie or music that's playing. It's very handy if you want to study and block out the noises as well or just want some me-time. 

MIRROR

What is even a dorm room without any mirrors?! Every dorm needs at least one mirror, just to check once in a while if your makeup is still ok, to fix your hair or in the morning to take a look at your outfit. And besides, mirrors do make a room look bigger.

PICTURE FRAME

This gives your room that extra personal touch. You're probably going to have a lot of new experiences, and the best will become memories you'll always want to remember. I have to confess that I don't that much pictures, but from now on I'll take a picture of an experience I want to remember years later. 

LOVESAC

I got to know this brand trough a Youtuber and I really want one too now! Lovesac is a brand that sells beanbags. I used to have a beanbag many years ago in my room and it's really comfortable. I think if I would go to a campus I would definitely want to have one in my room! 

CHALKBOARD 

Starting your year well organized will save you from getting stressed quickly. You can write all the important tasks that need to be completed on the to do list chalkboard. It's best to not use this as a planner only, you still need to write the homework assignments in your normal planner. Just keep this for the big events or birthdays coming up.

Can you believe it's almost August?! Time really flies but there still is one full month of summer left before university starts. I've been on a family vacation to Sardinia already, went on a few city trips and basically a summer holiday is the perfect time to organize your life a little bit.
