La la land | A Romantic & Cheerful Movie

Hey everyone,

Since having watched Fifty Shades of Grey last year, La la land is now my favorite movie of all time. After I had seen the movie trailer I really was looking forward to seeing the whole movie. It's a feel good movie, kind of like a musical with a lot of songs and a romantic touch to it. I love Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone, they are great actors and have a special on screen chemistry together. I've never seen them play such a good role as in this movie. 

LA LA LAND MOVIE REVIEW

The romantic musical comedy-drama is written and directed by Damien Chazelle. The screenplay was written in 2010 but there wasn't a studio who wanted to finance the production. After the success of Whiplash, the screenplay was picked up by Summit Entertainment. On Augustus 31st La la land premiered at the Venice Film Festival and the movie has now earned 179 million worldwide.

WHAT IS THE MOVIE ABOUT? 

The movie starts with a scene where cars are stuck in traffic in LA. Than all the drivers start to sing 'Another Day of Sun' together. They jump on cars, actors are free styling and it's just a happy song about hope.Than we meet the Sebastian

(Ryan Gosling) and Mia (Emma stone) Sebastian is a pianist and Mia is an actress in the movie. They can't get along very well but start to care for each other more and more in the end. Next you have a scene where Mia and Sebastian are walking over the Hollywood Hills during sunset. It's a beautiful location and it's also the first important scene. Mia and Sebastian start to see how much they are actually alike. Mia doesn't want to go to auditions anymore because it's not worth it. Sebastian has a dream vision of Jazz and he doesn't want to play music anymore for tourists. They both want to have a fresh start and follow their dreams. Stone and Gosling are attracted to each other and they sing a song about that they're not a couple and that their time is wasted. Than they also start dancing together to beautiful song and the choreography was really perfect. It's amazing to see how these two actors dance and sing, even though they aren't performers in real life. These to actors really made the movie a succes. The meaning behind the movie is that it's very easy to get pushed away to another direction than to your dream. Sometimes the only thing to get back on the right path towards your dream is another person.

La la land shows that you should never stop following your dreams. Often we get caught up in our busy lives and we have to stop and think about how we actually want to live further. It's a magical movie, showing the era of Classic Hollywood. The dreams we dream of achieving are the ones that keep us dancing and alive.

Mia: It's pretty strange that we keep running into one another. 

Sebastian: Maybe it means something.

Mia: I doubt it.

Sebastian: Yeah, I didn't think so.

Mia and Sebastian are realizing that they keep running in to each other and start to think if it means something. Mia doesn't agree but you know they have a chemistry together. 

Bill: You're fired.

Sebastian: It's Christmas.

Bill: Yeah, I see the decorations. Good luck in the new year.

Sebastian gets the news from his boss that he's fired. Although losing your job is never fun, it can make him think about his future and his dreams more. 

OPINION

Maybe you've already noticed but I've really fallen in love with the movie! It's a magical movie and the scenes are all played so well. I really love all the songs, and I'm now trying to play them on the piano. The dances where choreographed my Mandy Moore, a choreographer know for So You Think You Can Dance. You can see that the dances are really well performed and it suits the songs perfectly.
