Personal update || Life

Hey everyone,

It's my favorite day of the week again, Friday. Even tough it's Friday the 13th my day went pretty well. I had school till three and had dinner with some friends. (Really nice pasta mm) Tomorrow it's Valentine's Day!! At school you are able to send someone a rose to show you care about them. It's so cute, I gave my best friend one. In all the years I am in high school I've never had a rose before. And everytime I hope that this mystery guy sends me one, but reality is different. Maybe next year.

PERSONAL UPDATE

WEHEARTIT

Right now I'm laying in between all my clothes because I've wanted to sort and reorganize my closet. You really have to have those cleaning up moods, otherwise you will keep everything and not wear them. (So me) And I'm looking at all my clothes, thinking that I actually have a it of a clothing crisis if I throw everything away what I don't wear. Do you recognize that?  I just looks nice to have all these clothes hanging in my closet. Maybe that's why my mom says I have enough.. Abercrombie has a lot of cute clothes. Now they have more promotions and sales than before because the company isn't going very well. They have to, otherwise no one is going to buy something. I only buy something when it's really cheap, like with 70% off or something. Who buys jeans for 88 euros? It'sSure you heard that on the news sometime. So yeah, that's my Friday night basically today.

I'm really looking forward to Spring break next week, just really no homework, spending more time with family and friends and I'm going to Maastricht!! :) Love that City so much. I have to go there at least 2 times a year. They have really delicous waffles(not just because the food, well maybe) and a lot of cute clothing stores which is very handy right now with my clothing crisis. If you are looking for a fun city trip than you should also go see this place!

This weeks life lesson I've learned is:
*It's ok to buy clothes for the next season, but when you actually have to wear them you don't like them anymore

Good flexibility exercises for the splits

Hey everyone,

I have always wanted to do the splits one time, but I never really had the motivation to stretch everyday. Now I finally have and since last week I'have done 15 minutes of flexibility exercises everyday and you can see the difference already. At first when I was standing up I couldn't touch the ground and now I can touch it with my full hands! Improving your flexibility is good for your body. I often have restless legs and these exercises really help for me to relax the muscles.

WEHEARTIT

There are some exercises that I do almost everyday that work well for me, a beginner and also if you are further. You won't see the results immediately, after a while you can see little improvements and eventually you can do the split!

Flexibility exercises

1. The first excercise that I start with is just putting my legs in front next to each other and try to bend over and touch your toes with your hands. At first you might not be able to do that immediately, but after a whille you can reach further every time you practice. Try to bend your back also to have a complete and better stretch.

Good flexibility exercises for the splits

2. My second stretch is this binding one leg at a time to yur other leg that you keep straight in front of you. Than you have to try how to lean to your toes or even touch them. When you did that for both sides you can also stretch with your arms in front in the middle in this position. Repeat this for boths legs.

Good flexibility exercises for the splits

3. This exercise is is called the butterfly stretch. Many years ago when I did ballet I always had to do this one because it's so effective and it makes your thigh muscles more flexible. Sit in the yoga position and move your legs up and down just like a butterfly! If you are more advanced you can try to push your legs more to the ground.

Good flexibility exercises for the splits

4. This is a very simple one to do. You stand up straight with your legs next to each other and lean forward with your stomach against your legs and try to touch the ground. If you want to have a deepens stretch you can also grab your ankles.

Good flexibility exercises for the splits

5. My last exercise is this one. It's a step before the splits. Put one leg in front of the other and and push your hips to the ground. This really makes your thigh muscles more flexible and its a great start for eventually doing the split. Repeat this for both legs.

Other tips
* Keep stretching your body, otherwise you will have to start all over again
*Don't push yourself too hard. If you feel any sort of pain just do it a little bit less intensive
*I haven't mentioned this stretch above, but you can also do a stretch against the wall.
*For a faster result you can hold each stretch for about 30 seconds
*What I always do after my routine is trying to do a split and see how far I can go. :)

I hope you liked my tips on flexibility exercises!

Fashion | Yellow for coming Spring

Hey everyone,

There are a lot of exciting trends for coming Spring 2015 that were already shown and announced on the catwalk at the end of last year for this year. That's because in the fashion industry the designers plan everything ahead. I have chosen to share a color that will be very stylish this Spring, it's the color yellow. I have to say it's not really a color I would wear, but because there are so many different shades of yellow there is a shade you may like! From the very bright sunny yellow shades to the more gold yellow shades. The tip to find your shade is to look at your skin tone and find which complements you the best. It's a bright and sunny color for Spring but it's a trend were you have to know how to combine and create a good outfit with the color. If you wear it well and with the right accessories you are ready to go! Here are a few examples from the runway from big designers like Diane von Furstenberg and Tory Burch how they show the the trend.

How to wear yellow
-The easiest way to wear yellow is in combination with a pair of blue denim jeans. It's important not to overdo it, so a cute yellow top, t-shirt, blouse or sweater is almost enough. If you think you're not finished yet, you can add a cute ring with a yellow stone or a yellow bag. It's what you like and prefer and make it your own!
-Yellow looks very cute in combination with pastel colors. For example a pastel colored pair of jeans with a nice yellow blazer on top.
-I always thought that if you don't really have a darker skin tone, yellow wouldn't look good on you. But that's not true. You also see in on the runway pictures above. You just have to find the right shade.
-If you love skirts and yellow, the skirt looks very cute in combination with a denim shirt and a pair of flats or heels.
-Some people don't like to wear a very bright color that's really out there. If you have that too you can always brighten your outfit with yellow accessories. Like a clutch or necklace. That can be very subtle to really seeing it.

My yellow wish list
After seeing this color on the runway and in magazines I think I defenitely want to give it a try. I love the more soft yellow shade. But when I go to the beach on a sunny day and I'm darker I think I would wear the brighter colors. Some clothing items I would love to have in my closet:

cute yellow top
Warehouse double layer textured top €51,43

cute yellow clutch
Jas M.B. Recycled leather travel wallet €35,72
If you love them too you can buy them both on asos.com

Do you like the yellow trend?

Why you should visit Iceland

Hey everyone,

I don't know why but there's just something about Iceland that makes me want to go there. I've heard from many people that it's a beautful country with very nice landscapes and thermal swimming pools and that it's luxurious. In Holland it's a tradition after you have made your final high school exams you go on holiday with some friends and celebrate till you get your results back. There are popular places like Granada, Sevilla or Mykonos where a lot of my classmates are going to. But I don't really love all the drinking and partying stuff so I thought I wanted something different but still fun. And I came up with Iceland.

why I would love to go to iceland

Things you can do in Iceland

It's for people who love a variation of activities on holiday. There are so many things you can do. The top things what I would love to do are first whale watching. I love animals and I think this would be a very cool and unforgettable experience with my friends. I heard from my neighbors who went to Reykjavik that in the summer it's the perfect time to go whale watching. You can really see them from nearby and just already love it!! I would also love to go to the geothermal pools in Iceland. It's really nice to just forget about all the school drama and have a moment for yourself to relax. A shopping trip is also definitely on my to do list. Reykjavik is the place to find everything you need under one roof. Like 150 stores in one mall, a good one I heard is in the street called laugavegur. The last thing I would love to do with my friends is going to an Unesco national park in Iceland because I love being in the nature. Vatnajokull is one of the largest parks in the country. You can go by jetskie and see the beautful animals and snowy landscape.

Thursday inspirational quote: #2 We rise by lifting others

Hey everyone,

Todays quote is about doing great things for others and great things will happen to you too. In our world today, people become more and more self conscious and think about themselves more than about others. For example the climate change. That is a very big issue and everybody knows that if we don't do something about it big problems will soon be reality. Nobody wants that. But why is not everyone driving in electric cars or living as green as possible. If we all would think about what it would do to the people who are living on our planet years later, we would have benefits and their society too. There are also a lot of good people in the world too, luckily. :) Thry think and help others and thanks to them we are a step closer everyday.

When I go to school everyday there is one thing that I notice that a lot of people do. When we had gymnastics we had to play softball and there was a girl who wanted to be better than her classmates. So she was really showing off. But also during other classes, the people are really showing off their skills and constantly trying to be better than another.  But it's not only in school but also at a sport club or with my friends. I think it's useless to have to act this way everyday day. There is always someone who's going to be better than you are at something. You just have to embrace what you can and not compare yourself with others. Instead of trying to be the best you can help others when they are trying to do that skill you already can. Or helping that friend out who needs a little help.

There are a lot of good people in our world who make the difference. Just stop for a second and just think about someone who needs a little help. Even with something small you can make a difference to that person. Running an errand for your grandmother, helping your friend with math etc. I'm sure it will put a smile on their faces! If you do something for another, good things will return to you and make the world a place with peace!!

A few reasons why you should help someone:

1. It makes you feel good about yourself
2. They will do something good back
3. It will improve the life of another
4. The world becomes more peaceful, step by step

If you don't really know where to start, here are a few ideas for you:
*Buy something for a homeless person
*Donate money to charity
*Volunteer at an animal shelter(lovee dogs)
*Teach someone a skill
*Just be there for people who need help

December favorites

Hey everyone,

I hope you're having a great weekend!? It's already December now!! :)  Sometimes I wish I cloud stop the time for a moment but unfortunately that isn't possible. December is my favorite period of the year. It has always been. Well, I have to say that the summer period is also nice but this period is more cozy. When I go for a walk I love to see all the people that have Christmas trees outside and completely decorated their homes. I love to do that too. We also have bought a Christmas tree already and decorated it with white and red. (My fave colors!!) It looks very nice in the living room and makes it more cozy. Another thing which I love to make is a Christmas wish list. I always see so much things that I want that it's impossible to remember them. So I make a wish list with all the stuff and hope Santa gives me a few things...It's now very cold here in the Netherlands, around 2 degrees. There was a time when it was around -20 degrees!! I hope it will be this year so we can ice skate on the river. :)

This month there are a lot of new things I want to do, read, make and more. I would love to share them with you and inspire you to also make your list. Here they are. Enjoy!!

Watching movies is a thing most people love to do. And me too. It's relaxing and you just think about the movie and nothing else. In December there are a lot of new movie releases of movies I want to see. The one I want to see the most is a Christmas movie with Anna Kendrick. She is one of my favorite movie actors and she does it very well. She became famous from the Cup song. The movie is called Happy Christmas. It's about a break up, after the breakup Jennh moves in with the writer Kelly. That's her filmmaker husband and child. Jenny realizes if she wants to be happy she needs a relationship and career. The movie shows that evolution and I hope it's worth it!

I have the tradition to put every year around December a light peramid in my room and a mini Santa on my bookshelf. I love them. My room looks more like Christmas and very cozy. Ohh, and also my fake ice skates on my wardrobe. I bought them around 2 years ago and they are from paper. So cuteee!!

One of the things that's on my Christmas wish list is a thing that I want really bad. It's a Pandora bracelet. You can even add Christmas hangers on your bracelet. I hope I get that. Especially the snowman hangers and the pink colored ones are nice. I think I would like my bracelet to look like the one in the picture below.

This is a Christmas DIY I would like to make. It's your own Christmas tree snowball globe and it's quite easy to make. You can put it everywhere in your house to add a sparkle to your room or it's also a very nice Christmas gift for friends and family.

Because I love to dance I would really like to go to see a dance performance in The Hague at Christmas. The performance I want to see is the one from The Dutch Don't Dance Division's group. It's a winter wonderland performance and their will be famous dancers from So You Think You Can Dance. Exciting!!

These were the things I want to have, make and do this December. I hope you liked it and I want to wish you a great Sunday and December,

Isabella x
